Interview with mr. Raetsky from Russia organizer and active player from voronezh which is 500 km from moscow . mr raetslky has been organizing a chess festival similar to the one in Abu Dhabi and it is now the most popular and sought out chess festival. In my festival 300 players and in 2004 event to be held in june there will be a new addition of advanced players and a simul display by famous gm peter svidler. I like the adcf vermuch and the conditions are excellent for the participants in terms of accomadation and courteous treatment from the organizer. The playing hall is ideal to international fide standards. The adcf has been well planned and executed in exemplory fashion. I have not seen such an event in europe or any other part of the world where players are treated excellently and we have the best facilities while engaging our minds in battle. |

I am also the author of 4 chess books and it is on openings and i also have 2 more titles on the production line . in 2001 i gave a simul display blind and this was exciting. I also did program for my local television and this was about introduction to chess . Interview with a Grandmaster Meet the diminutve grandmaster from Armenia Sargissian Gabriel rated 2600 and playing in abu dhabi chess festival as the third seed. The soft spoken grandmaster gave an interview and we publish the following extracts When did you lear chess from Whom ? I learn chess when i was 6 years old from my grandfather. Chess is part of my family traditions. And after getting initial coaching from prominent players i started my junior chess career. What success you attained ? I became a gm step by step . first fm in 96, im by 98 and 4 years later the gm title. I work 4 to 5 hours a day on chess and in summer time it is usually less as i travel for chess tournaments. It is an excellent tournament. I like the format of 1 round a day so one can relax and prepare well for the game. The organizers are pleasent and i was happy to accept the invitation. The festival is a boon for the foreign and local players and i hope to come back in the next year as it is an exciting event . most grandmasters ask about the chess events in uae and usually we give our appreciation and news of this excellent festival.
Your first book and who do you admire in chess ?
My first book was by capablanca and he is my idol i also like the books of capa and rubenstein especially his endgame analysis.
